The Girls Day Out is a Girl's Only paddle for fun and to raise funds for cancer research. It is open to anyone (female) in a human powered vessel; ski, paddle board, stand up paddle board, kayak, canoe, outrigger, dragon boat, even SLSA Row boat (sweeps may be male).

The event has been running since 2007 and in 2011 was on Sunday the 30th of October and went from the West Lakes Canoe Club on Bower Rd West Lakes

The Girls Day Out was started in 2007 by Jill Dewey as a way to join her passion for the outdoors with a desire to help cancer research.
